November 7th, 2009

ATA students, families, and friends gathered at ATA Martial Arts in Richmond Hill on Saturday, Nov 7 from 1-3pm in an effort to raise money for the H.U. Lee Foundation (www.huleefoundation.org). Special items and equipment were raffled off, a sidewalk chalk contest was held, and boards were broken by all ages. The school’s elite demo team put on an entertaining performance. $742 was the final total at the end of the event. The ATA pays all administrative costs so that all monies raised goes directly toward college scholarship awards. Congratulations to ATA Martial Arts in Richmond Hill on your success!

What’s New: Warrior X-fit and Combat Weapons Sparring

October 24th, 2009

The school welcomes the addition of two cutting edge programs in the martial arts industry.

Ms. Daughtry is a certified Warrior X-Fit instructor (warriorxfit.com) and the school is the only official Warrior X-fit affiliate in the area. Warrior X-fit classes for adults start in January. Check the “Programs” section for more information. You can also contact us for more information. Ask specifically for “Warrior X-Fit”.

Ms. Daughtry also recently received instructor certification in Combat Weapons Sparring. Open only to enrolled ATA students, this program takes sparring and weapons training to the “next level”.

September Homework: HONOR

September 6th, 2009

Students need to reference the “Honor” newsletter handed out in class last week. Please see Brittany if you need one. Inside the first page is a list of 10 things. Students are to select one example of HONOR and write a 3-5 sentence paragraph attributing that item to something they personally experienced. Turn it in by the end of the month for a blue star.

August Homework: Perseverence

August 10th, 2009

Grandmaster’s newsletter was handed out in class last week along with a basic calendar. Each student is to select a goal for the month which requires “preseverence” on their part to complete. Whether it is to acheive a set study time each day, or improve on an aspect of your training (like Ms. Daughtry’s goal to stretch every day), write your goal at the top of the calendar and check/initial/sticker/stamp/etc. each day you complete this goal. Keep in mind that while you may not feel like doing it on a certain day or feel you don’t have time, it is something you have committed to do and will take perseverence to acheive. Turn in the calendar the last week of August to receive a blue star for your patch.
